It combines the patron saint festivities of <a href=\"https:\/\/hotelborgia.com\/blog\/who-was-saint-francis-borgia\/\"><strong>Sant Francesc de Borja<\/strong><\/a>, the Duke of Gandia who became a saint, with a cultural programme spread across squares, promenades and theatres. The 2026 edition brings together <strong>161 activities<\/strong>, including 49 concerts and 45 performing arts shows. The poster, by the illustrator Lluch, puts the spotlight on the character who opens the festival; you can see it, along with a decade of previous posters, in <a href=\"https:\/\/firaifestes.com\/en\/carteles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>the posters section of the guide<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Tio_de_la_Porra_opens_the_festival\"><\/span>The Tio de la Porra opens the festival<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It all begins on <strong>Friday 2 October at 09:00<\/strong> in the <strong>Pla\u00e7a Major<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/hotelborgia.com\/blog\/tio-porra-gandia-fira-festes-tradition\/\"><strong>Tio de la Porra<\/strong><\/a>, a mock herald with a bicorne hat and a truncheon, takes command of the city and his drum bands march off to the schools to interrupt lessons. In 2026 more than <strong>230 Tios de la Porra<\/strong> take part. At <strong>13:00<\/strong> the bands return to the Pla\u00e7a Major for a joint dance, and at <strong>20:30<\/strong> the character bids farewell with <strong>Obrim la Fira<\/strong>, the opening show with a fireworks display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Free_concerts_and_music_for_everyone\"><\/span>Free concerts and music for everyone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the second year running, <strong>all the concerts at the Parc de la Festa are free<\/strong>. The main stage is set up in the <strong>Parc d&#8217;Ausi\u00e0s March<\/strong>, outdoors and standing, with <strong>Chanel<\/strong>, <strong>Omar Montes<\/strong> and <strong>Cali y El Dandee<\/strong> as headliners, alongside bands from the Valencian scene and several tribute acts. Away from the park, <strong>M\u00fasica de Sempre<\/strong> doubles its capacity in the Pla\u00e7a del Prado with tributes to Roc\u00edo Jurado and the D\u00fao Din\u00e1mico, and the <strong>Teatre Serrano<\/strong> stages one indoor show each night, with paid admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tradition_markets_and_fireworks\"><\/span>Tradition, markets and fireworks<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fira has a traditional side that is well worth seeking out between concerts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Els Mercats de la Fira<\/strong>: from 2 to 5 October, a medieval-themed market with artisan food in the streets of the Centre Hist\u00f2ric.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Muixeranga<\/strong>: Saturday 3 at <strong>19:00<\/strong>, human towers and stick dances in the Pla\u00e7a Major.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Correfoc<\/strong>: in the early hours of Sunday 4 to Monday 5, at <strong>00:30<\/strong>, along the Passeig de les Germanies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Masclet\u00e0<\/strong>: Monday 5 at <strong>14:00<\/strong> on the Avinguda Marqu\u00e9s de Campo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Procession of Sant Francesc de Borja<\/strong>: Monday 5 at <strong>20:00<\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/hotelborgia.com\/blog\/collegiate-church-santa-maria-gandia\/\"><strong>Collegiate Church of Santa Maria<\/strong><\/a>; when it ends, a fireworks barrage closes the Fira.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Funfair<\/strong>: in the Parc d&#8217;Ausi\u00e0s March, open from <strong>25 September<\/strong> to <strong>12 October<\/strong>, well beyond the main days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_for_enjoying_it_from_the_hotel\"><\/span>Tips for enjoying it from the hotel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hotel Borgia is right in the centre, a few minutes&#8217; walk from the Pla\u00e7a Major, the <a href=\"https:\/\/hotelborgia.com\/blog\/ducal-palace-borgia-gandia-history-visit\/\"><strong>Palau Ducal<\/strong><\/a> and the Passeig de les Germanies: everything is done on foot. The concerts are standing and require no booking, and October nights get chilly: bring a light jacket.
