Spanish Three-Cushion Billiards Grand Prix in Gandia: XXI Ciutat de Gandia-Chef Amadeo

From 28 September to 4 October 2026, Gandia Billar Club hosts the Spanish Three-Cushion Billiards Grand Prix, which this year reaches its 21st edition as the “XXI Ciutat de Gandia-Chef Amadeo”. For a week, federated players from all over Spain compete in the city in one of the events on the national calendar of the Royal Spanish Billiards Federation.

The event is organised by Gandia Billar Club and the Federació de Billar de la Comunitat Valenciana, under the auspices of the Royal Spanish Billiards Federation (RFEB). With twenty-one editions behind it, the tournament is now a fixture of Spanish billiards in Gandia.

What is three-cushion billiards?

Three-cushion billiards is played on a pocketless table with just three balls. To score a point, the player’s cue ball must contact the second ball and rebound off at least three cushions before reaching the third. It is a discipline of precision and geometric calculation that is easy to follow even without knowing the rules.

Dates, venue and format

The competition takes place at the Gandia Billar Club premises at Carrer Miramar, 13, right in the town centre, on four Rufes tables with RFEB-approved equipment. The final is scheduled for Sunday 4 October at 12:30. The official start date is Monday 28 September, although the official announcement warns that the first rounds could be brought forward by a few days if more than 120 players enter.

  • Participants: Spanish players and foreign players legally resident in Spain holding a valid federation licence, entered through their regional federations.
  • Entry deadline: Friday 11 September 2026; the final list of entrants is published on the RFEB website in the following days.
  • Format: preliminary rounds, a qualifying round for the last 32 and knockout stages under RFEB rules, with trophies for the top four finishers.

Watching the matches as a spectator

At the 2024 edition, which brought together 128 players and set a national participation record, matches were played between 10:00 and 20:00 and public access was free of charge. The 2026 announcement does not yet set daily times or access conditions, so it is worth checking with the club before going, especially for the day of the final.
